Welcome to a vast and versatile world, where you can create almost anything that you wish. While the game may look blocky, it has a wonderful potential and has created some stunning and beautiful places.
Unlike many games there are no quests, and no directions to follow built into the game.Instead you are free to explore an almost unlimited land, with lots of features that you can explore, as well as animals, both friendly and hostile.
There are several different game modes available to you, they range from building defenses and holding off monsters to a pure creation mode with no enemies and the time to build whatever you want.
You begin by collecting materials, almost everything you see can be turned into a crafting material, from the trees becoming wooden planks or more to build with, to collecting water to move and place elsewhere.
These materials can also be combined to create certain objects or better crafting materials, such as iron and charcoal making steel. Once you have these materials you are able to begin to create buildings, new terrain or even whole islands.
In survival mode you are able to find materials for crafting, just as in creation mode, however you will also face dangers while you build. From roving beasts to ravenous zombies and much more. There are weapons and armor that you can equip yourself with for your defense, as well as being able to create any fortification that you wish.
As well as making buildings and weapons or armor, you can also create tools to make your materials collection easier, and add enhancements to your items to make them better. These can vary from a pick axe that can’t be broken to extra strength in your armor.
All of these can be made from the items that you find, or created for you by wandering characters that you will find. You can also enter into a multiplayer mode, and create spaces with other players, or see what they have made.
The crafting system is extensive, and there are lots of things that you can make. As well as the standard game there are also little downloads you can get called skins. These will change the look of the game and there are lots available to choose from.
Minecraft is not a free game, though there is a free trial that you can download. There is a one time payment when you purchase the game, and once you have you are free to create and explore at no additional cost.
The graphics do look very blocky, but that is very much part of the appeal and charm of Minecraft. Being able to create anything that you want is amazing, and there have been some fantastic creations from small log cabins to huge castles.
Finding everything that you need to crafting can take a little time, but it is worth the investment in time. With no limits to either the world or what you can create Minecraft has limitless potential and is truly engaging and creative.
